MRF plans K40 billion loan for summer paddy season to support farmers

In the upcoming summer paddy season, approximately K40 billion will be lent to farmers with around 50 acres of farmland in the Ayeyawady, Bago, and Yangon regions, as well as the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF).
To initiate the project, the list of farmers in the Ayeyawady, Bago and Yangon regions, and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area working on about 50 acres of farmland has been compiled, and the loan will be initially disbursed for 100,000 acres.
In Myanmar, there are 17 million acres of monsoon paddy and summer paddy fields, yielding 14 million tonnes of rice annually. Of this, 11 million tonnes are for local consumption, and 2.5 million tonnes are for export, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF). — ASH/TRKM
