SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla join opening of first golden lotus robe weaving contest

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attended the opening of the first golden lotus robe weaving for the Maravijaya Buddha Image on the water fountain platform of the precinct of the Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw yesterday evening.
The Senior General and his wife cut the ribbon to open the ceremony of weaving golden lotus robe for the Buddha Image.
When the looms were functioning, artistes from MRTV of the Ministry of Information, the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture and Myawady Entertainment Troupe under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare performed a song and dances. The attendees released small hot-air balloons at the same time.
The artistes also performed choral dances, Ozi and Dobat music and songs.
The Senior General and wife together with attendees interestingly viewed round process of weaving at nine looms.
The Senior General, his wife and audiences enjoyed releasing of hot-air balloons.
After paying homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image, the Senior General and his wife lit 3,600 oil lights together with attendees and cordially greeted monks and people to the Maravijaya Buddha Image Tazaungdine festival.
The ceremony was also attended by the SAC Secretary, the Joint Secretary and wife, council members and their wives, Union-level persons, Union ministers and their wives, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council and senior military officers.
The Tazaungdine lighting festival will last from 25 to 27 November. During the period, arrangements have been made to light 9,000 oil lamps, recite Pathana treatise, launch fireworks, release hot-air balloons and weave golden lotus robes for the first time. Moreover, the Buddha Park is illuminated with LED blubs whereas domestic products, foodstuffs, personal goods and traditional snacks are sold. — MNA/TTA
