The Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Mandalay Branch) is currently arranging to exhibit ancient royal utensils at Myanansankyaw Golden Palace in Mandalay. They have invited to the public, as well as monasteries, to donate these utensils with proper evidence, according to the person in charge of the ancient Royal Palace.
Visitors to the palace will be able to view authentic royal utensils instead of historical paintings. The purpose of these activities is for the Myanmar people to take pride, preserve and appreciate Myanmar cultural heritage.
“We are arranging to display the royal utensils that were once used by the monarchs such as goglets, betel boxes and royal couches in the king’s bedroom of royal glass building. We encourage those who possess these historic items used by ancient kings to donate them,’’ said the curator.
Currently, the museum in charge added, they are using vinyl to exhibit pictures of the utensils.
The museum is planning not only to display the king’s utensils as material objects from the historic paintings and photos but also to provide the honorary documents and honouring awards to well-wishers who donate the royal utensils with evidences.
The Myanansankyaw Golden Palace in Mandalay attracts a substantial number of local and foreign visitors who are keen to explore the abundant ancient heritage and culture of the Yadanabon period.
