Myanmar Child Labour Eradication Awareness & Capacity-Building Working Committee holds coord meeting

The awareness and capacity-building working committee meeting on eliminating child labour in Myanmar was held yesterday at the Ministry of Information assembly hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint, who is also Chairman of the Education and Capacity-Building Committee, emphasized the importance of children’s rights and children’s education. He said that the first five-year national plan to eliminate child labour in Myanmar from 2019 to 2023 had been completed. To implement the second five-year plan (2024-2028), he said he would like to coordinate with the secretary and present the work plans to the relevant departments on a suitable date.
He added that the annual report is also to be submitted to the National Committee. For the next five-year plan, the relevant departments and organizations of the committee should draw up detailed work plans and submit them to the National Committee in January.
The Education and Capacity-Building Committee secretary then gave a report on the points to be based on the drafting of the second five-year national plan (2024-2028) to eliminate child labour in Myanmar.
Furthermore, the attendees discussed the activities related to awareness and education activities, opening vocational courses, broadcasting awareness programmes through the media, and the activities that will continue to be executed.
Afterwards, the deputy minister gave a closing speech after discussing and supplementing the discussions and presentations. — MNA/KZL
