The signing ceremony for two Memorandums of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Government of the Republic of India under Quick Impact Projects (QIP) was held at the Ministry of Border Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Border Affairs Maj-Gen Phyo Thant, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, Deputy Directors-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Legal Affairs, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India Mr Ashish Sharma and relevant officials.
At the event, the Deputy Minister remarked, and the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India, clarified the MoU.
Then, Director-General U Sai Tun Nyo of Progress of Border Areas and National Races Department and the Indian Deputy Chief of Mission signed MoUs and exchanged them.
The Quick Impact Project (QIP) allows for a project cost of US$50,000 each, and Indian Government aims to support Myanmar’s socioeconomic development.
The MoUs will contribute to the construction of a 60 by 30 by 12 feet multi-purpose hall in Taikyan village of Lahe Township of Naga Self-Administered Zone, a 20 feet double-layer one-floor bailey bridge between Lahe-Nanyun (three miles and six furlongs) and a Laung Kyan Naut Gone-Taikyan-Lanhtein route and four 5 by 5 by 26 feet Box Culverts. — MNA/KTZH
