Myanmar citizen, schools win awards for ASEAN eco-champions, eco-schools

The 17th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment and the 18th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the ASEAN Agreement on Transboundary Haze Pollution took place in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic on 23 and 24 August this year.
In August, Dr Kaung Htet Swan representing Myanmar secured the 2nd ASEAN Youth Eco-Champions Award in the senior class, which is awarding once every four years, for his endeavours in sustainably environmental conservation practices.
Moreover, No 1 Basic Education High School in Ayeyar Ward of Myitkyina in Kachin State was awarded the 4th ASEAN Eco-Schools Award at the secondary level and BEPS in Daunkkwe Village of Kyaunggon Township in Ayeyawady Region, the same award at the primary level for honouring excellent endeavours of the two schools in environmental conservation activities. — GNLM
