Myanmar competes in martial arts competition at Asian Games

The XIX Asian Games, hosted by the People’s Republic of China continued in stadiums and gymnasiums in various cities.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan who is also the Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee, and officials from the governing body watched Myanmar’s Ma Aye Thitsar Myint competing in the Nang Chuan (hand-to-hand combat) and Nang Thaung (sword combat) competitions in the Wushu competition held at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre in Hangzhou, China, yesterday at 10 am China Standard Time.
In the knockout match of the Taekwondo competition held at the Lin’an Sports Culture & Exhibition Stadium in Lin’an City, Ma Moe Myint Myat of Myanmar lost to Thailand in the (-53 kilogrammes) category with a score of 0:12 in the first round and 2:13 in the second round.
Myanmar’s Sandi Oo will also compete in two events of Wushu today. — MNA/KZL
