Myanmar Customs seizes smuggled goods worth over K67 bln in 8 months

Myanmar Customs Department revealed that smuggled goods with an estimated market value of over K67 billion were confiscated in the past eight months (Jan-Aug) 2023.
The Customs Department conducted customs procedures at the Yangon International Airport, International Ports, General Post Office in Yangon and multiple checkpoints by Customs, where the undeclared goods without customs formalities were found. Myanmar Customs seized those illegal goods worth over K67 billion in the past eight months.
The Customs Department seized smuggled goods with an estimated value of K10.589 billion from 333 cases in August, goods worth over K9 billion in July, goods worth nearly K6 billion in June, goods worth over K9 billion in May, goods worth over K4 billion in April, goods worth over K11 billion each in March and February and goods worth K6.221 billion in January respectively. — NN/EM
