Myanmar donates 1,000 tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka

The MoC Union Minister along with the Sri Lankan ambassador oversee the shipment of donated rice bags.

The donation ceremony for the transfer of 1,000 tonnes of rice from Myanmar to Sri Lanka was held at Asia World Port Terminal in Yangon at 10 am yesterday.
At the ceremony, Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo of the Ministry of Commerce said that this donation shows the sympathy of the Myanmar government and people towards the people of Sri Lanka.
The Union minister continued that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries would be further enhanced and he handed over the documents related to the rice donation.
After that, the Sri Lankan Ambassador returned a letter of thanks to the president of the Myanmar Rice Federation for organizing the export of rice and expressed special thanks to the government and officials of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
In the current situation of Sri Lanka, which is facing an economic crisis, this kind of donation is very helpful, the ambassador said.
The ambassador expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who arranged for the donation. — MNA
