Myanmar earns over K1,673 billion in levying various kinds of tax in Q1

Levying various kinds of tax totalled K1,673.74951 billion in the first quarter of 2022-2023 financial year, according to a statement issued by the Central Statistical Organization under the Ministry of Planning and Finance.
During the first quarter, the government levied K1,673.74951 billion comprising over K607.3 billion in goods and services and commercial tax, over K305.107 billion in spectfic goods tax, K4.88614 billion in gems tax, over K722.781 billion in income tax, K30.96842 billion in stamp duty and K2.70583 billion in lottery tax.
In April 2022, K49.050 billion in specific goods tax, K110.327 billion in commercial tax, K233.472 billion in income tax, K10.232 billion in stamp duty and K840 million in lottery tax were collected in Myanmar.
In May 2022, Myanmar’s tax revenue accumulated K148.970 billion in specific goods tax, K266.484 billion in commercial tax, K233.160 billion in income tax, K9.701 billion in stamp duty and K912 million in lottery tax.
In June 2022, tax revenues were collected from K107.087 billion in specific goods tax, K230.489 billion in commercial tax, K256.149 billion in income tax, K11.035 billion in stamp duty and K953 million in lottery tax.
The Central Statistical Organization under the Ministry of Planning and Finance citing a temporary report of the Internal Revenue Department stated that levying tax in Myanmar amounted to K2,931.269 billion in the six-month mini budget of 2021-2022 financial year.—TWA/KZL
