The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that U Thet Win, the chargé d’affaires ad interim at the Myanmar embassy in Washington, DC, delivered a presentation on Myanmar’s cultures, traditions, and investment prospects at Howard University on 23 March.
At the invitation of the Centre for Global Business Studies at Howard University’s School of Business, U Thet Win presented an “Overview of Myanmar and Economic Opportunities” to economics students.
During his visit, U Thet Win also met with Dr Anthony D Wilbon, Dean of the School of Business, and Professor Dr Narendra R Rustagi, Director of the Centre for Global Business Studies, to explore potential educational collaborations.
The Myanmar chargé d’affaires provided insights into Myanmar’s foundational aspects, including its cultures, customs, traditional music, festivals, cuisine, UNESCO-recognized sites, trade, economy, and opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI). Approximately 150 students attended the event.
Following his presentation, there was a Q&A session, followed by a display of Myanmar traditional lacquerware and handicrafts, distribution of trade information pamphlets, and serving of traditional Myanmar tea to guests. — ASH/TMT
