Myanmar exports over 120 tonnes of crab, 20.8 tonnes of eel to China

Myanmar exported 129.249 tonnes of crab worth $0.646 million and 20.800 tonnes of eel worth $0.83 million to China.
These exports were made via the Muse 105th Mile trade zone between 20 and 27 June this year. In the 2019-2020FY, the country exported 8,211.759 tonnes of crab worth $23.737 million, 2,855.100 tonnes of eel worth $9.675million, in 2020-2021FY, 1,962.760 tonnes of crabs worth $5.430 million and 6,984.350 tonnes of eel worth $28.127 million were exported while there were no crab and eel exports in the 2021-2022 mini-budget period, according to the data.
In export, the crab price declines if there are over 50 tonnes. They fetch good prices especially on the Chinese significant days, May Day, New Year Day and Chinese New Year Day. The crab is priced at 33.336 yuan per kilo depending on the size and it is between 36 and 40 yuan per kilogramme of eel, according to the dealers.
Myanmar’s crab and eel trucks to China have to wait for 30 minutes after disinfecting. If they reach China, they have to take PCR tests and wait another five hours to export. — TWA/GNLM
