Myanmar hosts 4th Meeting of Mekong-Lancang Agricultural Cooperation Working Group

The fourth meeting of the Mekong-Lancang Agricultural Cooperation Working Group, hosted by Myanmar, was held yesterday morning. The videoconference was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.
Dr Ye Tint Tun, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture of Myanmar, chaired the meeting, while Mr Wei Zhenglin, Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China co-chaired the meeting.
Representatives from the members of the Mekong-Lancang member countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand attended the meeting.
Myanmar representatives from the Department of Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Department of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Research, Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department, Department of Fisheries and Yezin Agricultural University also joined the meeting.
Officials discussed the enhancement of agricultural cooperation among the Mekong-Lancang member countries and the involvement of the Mekong region in the implementation of green agriculture in China-ASEAN.
Cooperation of Mekong-Lancang Member Countries with the aid of Mekong-Lancang Special Fund, success status of ongoing projects, difficulties encountered and challenges were explained on a country-by-country basis, and ways to implement projects were successfully discussed.
They also discussed the establishment of the Bumper Harvest Projects of the People’s Republic of China and the establishment of the Fisheries and Aquatic Conservation Working Group in the Mekong-Lancang member countries. — MNA
