MoI joins Workshop on Social Media Practices virtually

Staff from the Ministry of Information led by Director-General U Ye Naing of the Myanma Radio and Television joined a Workshop on Sharing Best Practices on the Use of Social Media towards a Safe, Secure and Reliable Internet yesterday.
The workshop was chaired by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Viet Nam in a videoconferencing format.
The workshop was aimed at fostering friendly relations among ASEAN member countries.
Sharing knowledge and mutual support of international experience, laws promulgated on the use of social media in the ASEAN Member States, and exchange of rules and the development of good social media practices were also focused in the virtual meeting.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the ASEAN Member States at the Director-General level and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.
The discussion focused on the use of media on social media and online misinformation, fake news management plus sharing good management practices, public education and media role in public relations. The ASEAN Member States made PowerPoint presentations and the Director-General said that the current Telecommunications Law in Myanmar is enacted.
It is lear ned that the situation of detention under some sections of the law such as the News Media Law was discussed. —MNA
