Ongoing discussions on Myanmar-Laos cooperation unfold in Laos.

There will be cooperation between Myanmar and Laos for the spread of Buddhism and they are working together to open border liaison offices as soon as possible according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Myanmar’s Ambassador to Laos U Myat Thet Oo announced that on 31 August the Myanmar Embassy to Laos and the Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association held a meeting in Laos to discuss cooperation between Myanmar and Laos in promoting the propagation of Buddhism.
During the meeting, both parties discussed cooperation on religious development, tourism promotion, and the expedited opening of border liaison offices between Myanmar and Laos.
Myanmar and Laos have a long-standing friendship, and shared traditions, culture, and religion. However, due to the division created by the Mekong River, trade between these two countries has historically been limited.
In August 2022, the Kenglat border trade station in Tachilek district, which has the potential to further increase trade between Myanmar and Laos, was upgraded and opened. — ASH/KZW
