A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister Dr Wah Wah Maung of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations participated in the 25th Ministerial Conference of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) at Luang Prabang in Laos.
On the morning of 8 December, the ministers and the deputy ministers had an informal meeting regarding the formation of the GMS Trade and Investment Working Group and the establishment of the GMS Knowledge Network.
In the afternoon, the 25th Ministerial Conference of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) was held under the theme “Accelerating Economic Recovery to Expand 30 Years of GMS Achievements Toward Inclusive and Sustainable Development”. Delegation leaders from GMS member countries and the Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank gave remarks at the opening ceremony.
Reports of the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), Development Partners’ Meeting (DPM) and Business Council Meeting were presented at the 25th GMS Ministerial Conference. The ministers confirmed the new investment framework in the region 2023-2025, the outcome framework for the GMS Strategy Framework 2030, the GMS Gender Strategy and initial actions on GMS digital business collaboration, and published the Joint Ministerial Statement.
The meetings will be hosted by Mr Khamjane Vongphosy, Minister of Planning and Investment, Laos and co-chaired by Chairman Mr Armat M Sasika of East Asian, Southeast Asian and the Pacific under the Asian Development Bank.
The 25th Ministerial Conference of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) was attended by a total of around 150 participants — the ministers, the deputy ministers, state-level coordinators and senior officials of the GMS countries, representatives from Asian Development Bank, development partners and private sector representatives. — MNA/CT
