Team Myanmar will compete in the Sepak Takraw World Cup Championship, named ISTAF World Cup 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 21 to 26 May, as stated by the Myanmar Sepak Takraw Sports Federation.
Team Administrator U Aung Myo San Myint and coach U Aung Cho Myint will be heading the team during the tourney.
The tourney is divided into Premier and Division classes under the Regu, Team and Double events. Teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia compete in the Premier classes.
Like the previous competitions, they must compete in all events without having the right to choose their favourite event. In addition, the World Cup 2024 tournament that will be held now is different from previous tournaments in that it will be a tournament that will rank countries based on the results of the participating teams and the quality of the players.
Teams from Thailand, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Japan, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, South Korea, the Philippines, Myanmar, Germany, France, Nepal, Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Chinese (Taipei) and Saudi Arabia are participating in the tourney as it was divided into two classes named Premier and Division.
With the rank, team Myanmar will compete under the Premier class, placing in the same group as India and Japan in Group D of the Regu Event, in Group C with the Philippines and Indonesia for the Double Event and in another Group D with the Philippines and South Korea for the Team Event. — TWA/KZL
