Myanmar to compete in 20 sports at 31st SEA Games

Myanmar teams will compete in 20 sports at the 31st SEA Games to be hosted by Viet Nam, according to the SEA Games Organizing Committee.
The 31st SEA Games, postponed by the COIVD-19 epidemic, will be held from 12 to 23 May and feature 40 sports.
Myanmar plans to compete in 20 sports, including Track and Field, Archery, Lethwei, Billiards, Football and Futsal, Sepak Takraw, Wushu, Volleyball, Judo, Taekwondo, Vovinam, Weightlifting, Shooting, Rowing (international boat, canoe and kayak), Petanque, Golf, Chess, Bodybuilding, Esports and Kurash.
Myanmar previously planned to compete in only 18 sports but has expanded to include Esports and Kurash.
Since last year, most of the Myanmar sports teams have been training local for the upcoming SEA Games, while six sports teams have been training in China in preparation for the Games.
Myanmar women’s national football team is training in South Korea, while the men’s football team is currently training in the UAE and playing friendly matches.
The Myanmar national men’s futsal team underwent training in Thailand last month. They competed in the Thai Invitational Futsal and ASEAN Futsal Championships.
Likewise, Myanmar women’s futsal team continues training in Thailand after the Thai Invitational Futsal Championship, which runs from 20 to 26 April.
Five hundred twenty-six gold medals will be awarded at the 31st SEA Games, and some sports will start on 6 May. — Ko Nyi Lay/ GNLM
