The Vaccination Management Information System-VMIS that was developed by the Information and Technology Department of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and used by the Ministry of Health to support the systematic management of the COVID-19 vaccine in Myanmar, won the Digital Government Award in ASOCIO ICT Award 2021 hosted by Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) yesterday.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win delivered a video message to the Digital Government Award Ceremony and officials from the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Information and Technology of Tatmadaw attended the ceremony through video conferencing.
In his video message, the Union Minister expressed words of thanks for the award and explained that Myanmar is implementing the COVID-19 vaccination nationwide regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, standards of living, or political affiliation, and efforts are being made to provide the vaccine to everyone eligible according to the National Deployment Plan. He said Myanmar received the help of ICT in this nationwide operation, and ICT will be widely used in the post-COVID-19 health development of the people of Myanmar.
Intending to enhance productivity, livelihood, education and health activities with the widespread use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in countries in Asia and the Pacific, the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) invited 24 member countries to participate in the competition for five types of ICT applications in 2021: (1) ASOCIO Outstanding Tech Company Award; (2) ASOCIO Outstanding User Organization Award;(3) ASOCIO Digital Government Award;(4) ASOCIO EdTech Award;(5) ASOCIO Health Tech Award, and the Ministry of Health participated for the 2021 ASOCIO ICT Award through the Myanmar Computer Association, a member of ASOCIO, and won the Digital Government Award. — MNA
