Myanmar earned US$ 4.46 billion from the export of finished industrial goods in the first five months of the current 2023-2024 financial year, according to Daw Cho Thet Mu, deputy director of the Trade Policy Branch under the Ministry of Commerce.
The revenue from the export of finished industrial goods made by the state-owned businesses from 1 April to 15 September was $1.56 billion while $2.9 billion by the private sector, totalling $4.46 billion.
“We received $4.46billon from the export of finished industrial goods this financial year from 1 April to 15 September. We receive most from the garment and gas export,” she said.
The exports of garments manufactured under the cut-make-pack (CMP) system rank first in export followed by sugar, jewellery and natural gas. In the import sector, petroleum products rank first, followed by textiles and clothing.
Myanmar mainly exports agricultural, animal and marine products, minerals, forest products, finished industrial goods and manufactured goods to its foreign trade partners, and imports capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods. — ASH/KTZH
