Myawady, Muse borders log US$299.257 mln trade in Sept

The cross-border trade through Myawady post and Muse 105th-mile trade zone amounted to US$299.257 million in September of the current financial year 2022-2023, according to the statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.
Myanmar’s Myawady border trade with Thailand was estimated at $210.013 million in September, comprising exports worth $60.646 million and imports worth $149.367 million.
The exports were down by $13.1 million at the Myawaddy border post compared to the corresponding period last FY yet imports were up by $9.003 million. The figures showed a decrease of $4.097 million against the year-ago period.
During the week from 24 to 29 September, the cross-border trade via Muse 105th-mile trade zone with China accumulated $19.244 million, including exports worth $9.333 million and imports worth $9.911 million.
Compared to the trade value recorded in the second and third week of September, export at Muse trade zone in the last week of September was up by $0.554 million and import was up by $2.822 million.
The trade value via the Myawady border trade zone in September 2022 was up by $38.991 million against that in August 2022, indicating an increase of $10.472 million in exports and $28.519 million in imports.
However, exports via Myawady declined compared to those in the second week and third weeks of September. The exports to Thailand via the Myawady border fell in minerals, forest products, livestock, fisheries products, manufacturing goods and other export groups, except for the agricultural products group. The value of imports via the Myawady border rose in capital goods and industrial goods groups, however, the imports of consumer goods decreased.
Myanmar mostly exported eel, broken rice, rubber, crab, black sesame seed, rice, cotton, cashew nuts, green gram, ginger, white sesame and peanuts to China via Muse 105th-mile trade zone, while machines and equipment, building materials, motorcycle parts, electrical device, tractors, vehicles and auto parts, steel wares, apparel, trailer used in farmed machines and plastic raw materials. — TWA/GNLM
