Myitsone Resort project set to improve Kachin State tourism industry

In a groundbreaking initiative slated for the 2023-24 financial year, a plan is underway to diligently establish an exceptional resort at the Myitsone, a prominent area in the Kachin State, where the Maykha and Malikha rivers converge, according to the Kachin State Tourism Entrepreneurs Association.
The envisioned Myitsone resort promises to be a haven for tourists. Among the upgrades planned, traditional restaurants will serve as culinary havens, offering travellers an opportunity to savor authentic local cuisine. Additionally, traditional souvenir shops will showcase exquisitely crafted arts and crafts, providing visitors with an opportunity to take home a piece of Kachin State’s rich cultural heritage.
Beyond gastronomic and retail offerings, the resort will feature a playground and river cruise options for travellers to explore the natural beauty of the Maykha and Malikha rivers. Adventurous souls can partake in thrilling zip line adventures, while those seeking a romantic escape will find solace in the enchanting wedding garden. As part of short-term plans, the resort will also offer demonstrations on creating decorative works using the vibrant Myitsone pebbles, as well as provide gold panning experiences, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in local traditions.
Looking ahead to the long-term vision, the Myitsone resort will introduce exhilarating hot-air balloon rides and the construction of a spectacular glass bridge spanning the Maykha and Malikha rivers. These additions are set to enhance the resort’s allure, promising guests unforgettable moments amid the breathtaking natural scenery.
To ensure ease of access for visitors, the resort will boast a sprawling 20-acre car park near Tanphare Village, accessible from the Myitkhyina-Sumprabum-PutaO road. Furthermore, the resort’s footprint will extend along the riverbank, harmonizing with the surrounding landscape. Notably, this development will also generate employment opportunities for local residents, providing a significant boost to the region’s economy.
