National Security Advisor Union Minister attends 12th Meeting of High-Ranking Officials on Security Issues in Russia

National Security Advisor and Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung meets Mr Chen Wenqing, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China in St Petersburg, Russia.

A delegation led by Admiral Moe Aung, National Security Advisor and Union Minister at the State Administration Council Chairman Office Ministry 4, returned from the 12th Meeting of High-Ranking Officials on Security Issues in St Petersburg, Russia, on 27 April.
The meeting took place from 23 to 25 April. On 24 April, the Admiral and the Myanmar Consul-General in St Petersburg participated in the 4th ASEAN-Russia Meeting of High-Ranking Officials on Security Issues, jointly chaired by Mr Nikolay Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, and a representative from Cambodia. During this meeting, the Myanmar delegate discussed the country’s security measures and ongoing processes in line with the SAC’s five-point roadmap.
Following this, the Admiral and party attended the opening ceremony of the 12th Meeting of High-Ranking Officials on Security Issues. After viewing a video message from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr Nikolay Patrushev delivered the opening remarks. The meeting focused on the challenges and opportunities of the multi-polar world and information security.
In the evening, they joined the ceremony to laying wreaths to pay tributes at the monument of those who died in Leningrad in 1941-44.
On 25 April, the Admiral expressed his views on preserving national identity and cultural values while maintaining security, peace, and order. In the afternoon, round-table discussion on the protection of people during natural and man-made disasters and armed conflicts was participated by Maj-Gen Aung Myo Thant of the Defence Ministry of Myanmar.
The Admiral also held bilateral meetings with Mr Patrushev, Mr Chen Wenqing, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and current chairman of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee, Mr Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor to India, Mr Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Defence and Security Advisor to Bangladesh, and Mr Somvanh Saylongpha, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Laos. Discussions covered topics such as combating drug trade, terrorism, BIMSTEC security matters, and security and information exchange, and implementation of the five-point roadmap of SAC.
The Admiral also met with Mr Abdulaziz Ahmed Adem of Ethiopia and Mozambican Interior Affairs Minister Mr Pascoal Ronda and exchanged views.
On 26 April, the delegation met with Mr Grigoriev Evgeny Dmitrievich, chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St Petersburg, to discuss bilateral cooperation. They also took the opportunity to greet Myanmar cadets studying in the city and presented them with food gifts.— MNA/NT
