The Department of Myanmar Examinations announced on 4 March that non-programmable scientific calculators will be permitted in five subjects — Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, and Economics — during the matriculation examination.
The announcement clarifies that any non-programmable scientific calculator is allowed, while programmable calculators are strictly prohibited. Additionally, in remote and hard-to-reach areas, examination centres will provide calculators in the examination rooms.
The department’s statement further clarifies that students can bring their own calculators. Still, any unauthorized or suspicious content found on the device will lead to disciplinary action according to examination rules and regulations.
A total of 145,200 students have registered for the matriculation examination, which will be held from 11 to 19 March without breaks. — TWA/TRKM
