Over 1.3 million acres of monsoon rice completed in Ayeyawady Region

Only 1,154,509 acres were cultivated in the same period last year. Therefore, sowing acres increased this year. Farming types are seed broadcasting, transplanting and direct seeding.

Ayeyawady Region Department of Agriculture covered 1,311,813 acres of monsoon rice in eight districts of the region as of 16 July 2022. The number of monsoon rice acres is up by 157,304 acres as against the year-ago period.
A total of 70,261 acres in Pathein District, 125,120 in Kyonpyaw, 219,579 in Hinthada, 232,917 in Myanaung, 101,144 in Myaungmya, 79,668 in Labutta, 227,282 in Maubin and 255,842 in Pyapon have been cultivated under rice so far in the region.
Only 1,154,509 acres of monsoon rice were cultivated in the same period last year. Therefore, sown acrage has increased this year.
Farming types are seed broadcasting, transplanting and direct seeding. The regional government is making a concerted effort to enhance the agriculture sector. They are focusing on soil testing, implementation of model farming acres, distributing pedigree and high-yielding seeds, establishing agricultural service centres to increase the interests of the farmers, shifting traditional farming methods to mechanized farming and raising awareness of growing methods among the farmers. — Maung Maung Myint (IPRD-Rtd)/GNLM
