Over 200,000 domestic, foreign tourists enter southern Shan State in H1 2022

More than 200,000 domestic and foreign travellers visited southern Shan State from January 2022 to the end of July, according to the Shan State Hotels and Tourism Directorate.
During the seven months from January to the end of July, a total of 204,901 travellers including 202,846 domestic ones and 2,055 foreign tourists visited stupas and landmarks in southern Shan State.
In addition to domestic pilgrims, foreign tourists from China, South Korea and Japan visited these places.
A total of 204,901 travellers including 25,929 domestic ones and 206 foreign tourists in January, 18,541 local tourists and 89 foreign travellers in February, 22,868 local travellers and 176 international tourists in March, 47,389 domestic travellers and 494 foreign tourists in April, 33,501 domestic tourists and 184 international travellers in May, 25,134 local travellers and 237 foreign tourists in June, 29,484 domestic travellers and 669 international travellers in July visited such cities in southern Shan State as Taunggyi, Hopong, Shwenyaung, Nyaungshwe, Kalaw, Aungban, Heho, Ywangan, Pekhon, Pindaya, Namsang and Pinlong. — TWA/GNLM
