People in Mandalay celebrates fullmoon of Tazaungmon event

Mathoe Robe Offering Ceremony is held at Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay.

People in Mandalay yesterday celebrated the fullmoon of the Tazaungmon event (Samañ̃̃̃ñ̃̃̃aphala Day).
Venerable Yaytaw Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ukkatha presided over the ceremony by donating water, foods and flowers to the Mahamuni Buddha Image, one of the most famous pagodas in Mandalay yesterday.
Buddhist monks and people paid homage to the pagoda and offered water, flowers, oil lights to the famous pagoda followed by reciting sermons and meditating.
At 5 am, the 32nd Mathoe Robe Weaving Ceremony was presided over by the Mahamuni Board of Trustees keeping in line with the COVID-19 preventive measures.
During the ceremony, sewing teams and experts handed over Mathoe robes for the pagoda to the Mandalay Region Chief Minister, the Commander of Central Command, Cabinet Ministers and members.
With the supervision of Venerable Yaytaw Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ukkatha, the Mandalay Region Chief Minister, the Commander of Central Command, Cabinet Ministers and members donated robes to the pagoda.
Wives of the region’s chief minister and officials donated robes to the pagoda.
Similarly, the weaving team, reciting team, volunteering team and Pagoda Board of Trustees also donated robes to the pagoda.
Next, the Mandalay Region Chief Minister, the Commander of Central Command, Cabinet Ministers and members gave certificates of honour and cash awards to the weaving teams from Yekyi, Ohntaw, Pauk and Inlay.
Pilgrims visited Mandalay Hill Sutaungpyae Pagoda, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Sandamuni Pagoda, Maha Lawka Yanhnein Aungtawmu Sutaungpyae Pagoda, Shwekyimyint Pagoda, Phayani Pagoda, Sutaungya Pagoda, Sutaungpyae Pagoda, Chanthaya Pagoda, Tooth Relic Pagoda and Nannmyo Sutaungpyae Pagoda in Mandalay yesterday.
People donated water, flowers, gold foils, fruits and oil lights to the famous pagodas and recited the religious sermons and performed meditation. Well-wishers donated Myanmar traditional snacks to the pilgrims and reciting teams at the pagodas. —Tin Maung (Mandalay)/GNLM
