People receive COVID vaccines in Tikyit, southern Shan State

Officials gave vaccines to local people who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 at Sekhaung Village Middle School, Tikyit Village-Tract, Pinlaung Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone in southern Shan State yesterday morning.
The government is prioritizing vaccination drive to prevent and control COVID-19 disease and vaccination is being given to local people in Tikyit Village-Tract, Myingdwin Village-Tract, Payaphyu Village-Tract, Mwepyin Village-Tract, Pinkhin Village-Tract, Lwemaw Village-Tract, Banpyin and Lonepoe village-tracts. From 1 July to 23 September, a total of 458 people were infected with the COVID-19 virus in the village-tracts where healthcare is provided by the Tigyit District Hospital.
At present, 430 people have been discharged from the hospital. Four patients have died and three patients have been transferred. There are currently 21 COVID-19 positive patients and they are receiving healthcare at the District People’s Hospital and Shan Cherry Hall Healthcare Centre, officials said. — Khun Aung (Naung Tayar)/GNLM
