The bank of Taungwine Lake, which is going to open to the public soon and is located in Mawlamyine in Mon State, has already caught the public attention before it opens, according to residents.
Located at the foot of Mount Taungwine, the lake is a beautiful place for photo taking and can give fresh air, according to a local social welfare association.
For a pilgrimage to pagodas on Mount Taungwine and a walk on the lake bank, Taungwine Lake will be opened to the public soon, according to the Thathananwe Foundation. “It is still under construction, but it already has visitors. In Mawlamyine, when there is a new place, there are always crowds of people.

The lake is a good place to take photos and get fresh air in the evening. The construction of paths was completed, but finishing touches, planting flowers and decorating measures have yet to be finished. But people have already come to visit there. I think all the work are expected to be completed in the next five days,” said an official from a local social welfare association.
The best time to relax in summer is from 5:30 pm to 8 pm when a fresh breeze comes from the forest at the front of the lake.
A free parking lot for 160 motorcycles has been provided in order to prevent stealing and prevent traffic congestion, said Thathananwe Foundation. Moreover, a free car parking lot with a capacity of more than 50 cars has also been provided.
Taungwine trekking season was open from December last year to January and February. During the three-month trekking season, not only residents but also people in the locality came, and the number of hikers increased during the holidays. — MT/ZS/ED
