Myanmar young female golfer Phoo Pwint Yati Khaing will compete in the Symetra Tour’s Guardian Championship golf tournament in the United States.
The tournament will be held from 17 to 19 September at the Capitol Hill Golf Club in Prattville, Alabama.
Phoo Pwint Yati Khaing won the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship Women’s Individual Tournament, which was held from 3 to 5 May 2021, and was allowed to directly compete in the Symetra Tour Guardian Championship Golf Tournament without having to play qualifiers.
The Symetra Tour is a competition under the division of the LPGA Tour. It is the highest women’s golf tournament in the United States for young female golfers.
Golfers invited from the US universities competed in the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship Women’s Golf Tournament this year in May and Phoo Pwint won the with 218 strokes on three rounds, two more than the par.
Phoo Pwint is a student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) in the United States, occasionally competing in golf tournaments in the United States and winning the 2019 CAA Women’s Golf Championship.
A total of 120 players will compete in the upcoming Guardian Championship golf tournament.
A total of $175,000 in cash award will be awarded, with Phoo Pwint Yati Khaing competing as an amateur. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
