Pick out outstanding performers to be wonderful artistes

One Myanmar saying goes Politeness can bring wealth. Good fortune can be mentioned that the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition based on the politeness of the traditional culture will bring wealth to Myanmar society and Myanmar citizens.
The value of a country can be based on its economic, educational and defence power as well as cultural affairs in the role of high historical value. Myanmar is endowed with a long-lasting cultural history of all ethnic people. Hence, all citizens should take pride in the opportunity of living in Myanmar.
Myanmar ethnic people are adoring and preserve national culture as they are high in national prestige and integrity. They are in fine tradition to hand over cultural heritages to new generations. The prestige of a race depends on literature, fine arts and cultural standards. Literature and fine arts are outstanding measures for the people.

Myanmar people were skilful in playing musical instruments for more than 2,000 years. Stone inscriptions in Bagan, Pinya, Inwa, Toungoo, Nyaungyan and Konbaung eras mentioned the playing of musical instruments and beautiful postures of dancing. They created literature in poems to be inverted into songs to be used for dancing.

Firm pieces of evidence showed that Myanmar’s fine arts have been booming since the Pyu era. A record mentioned a 35-member Pyu artiste delegation made a goodwill visit to China in 802 AD. At that time, the Chinese governor recorded dancing postures of Pyu dancers and musical instruments in pictures, according to the Tang dynasty history. The Pyu orchestra was formed with 22 kinds of musical instruments, the flute of which can be played seven tunes of melodies.

Myanmar forefathers translated or referred to the original poems or songs from other countries into fine arts works in the Myanmar language without losing the main theme of Myanmar’s traditional culture. As such, they could leave a large number of cultural heritage to posterity.
At present, the 23rd Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition is in progress, aimed at discovering infamous outstanding artistes at professional, amateur, higher education and basic education levels. They will be reliable artistes in the future for the country in showing their skills and excellent performances for serving the people. How satisfactory!
