Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee focuses on strict control of illegal trade under the law.
On 2 and 3 March, the Bago Region Forest Department seized 7.691 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,013,870 in the forest reserves of Bago and Toungoo districts and took action under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the Lashio Township Customs Department of Shan State examined the vehicles on the Lashio detour yesterday and seized undocumented K17,695,000 worth of China-made softdrinks and three vehicles worth K60,000,000 which carried these products. The officials took action under the Customs Law.

Moreover, the combined inspection led by Myanmar Police Force conducted inspections team in Monywa Township of Sagaing Region and seized two unregistered motorcycles worth K200,000 and K4,340,000 worth of agricultural materials and foodstuffs and took action under the Export and Import Law. They also seized K3,529,680 worth of illegal teak (weighing 21.576 tonnes) in Bamauk Township and took action under the Forest Law.
Therefore, a total of 13 arrests (estimated value of K86,778,550) were made on 2 and 3 March, according to the committee. — MNA
