The government is implementing the public rental housing project phase 1 – over 300 buildings with 5,008 units in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay, according to Yangon City Development Committee.
The project is aimed at government employees, retired persons and low-income people.
In developing the public rental housing project, the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Yangon and Mandalay regions’ governments provided the land and infrastructure.
The rental housing will include 10,000 apartments and a total of 313 buildings with 5,008 units that will be constructed in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay. The needed budget will be sought for the 2022-2023 union budget.
The Myanmar Construction Entrepreneurs Federation (MCEF) constructs 20 buildings and Myanmar Licenced Contractors Association (MLCA) builds 20 buildings in Yangon and will be completed by the end of July 2022.
Each association constructs 97 buildings respectively and the remaining 77 buildings are expected to be completed by the end-March 2023.
It completes 95 per cent of construction and 65 per cent of infrastructure in Nay Pyi Taw to date while 56 per cent of construction and 34 per cent of infrastructure in Yangon and 88 per cent in construction and infrastructure each in Mandalay.
The public rental housing phase 1 is 22 buildings with 448 units in Nay Pyi Taw, 194 buildings with 3,104 units in Yangon and 91 buildings with 1,456 units in Mandalay. — TWA/GNLM
