SAC Chair PM’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla attends 2024 Int’l Women’s Day

Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister and Honorary Patron of Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation (MWAF), attended the 2024 International Women’s Day ceremony, which was held at Myanmar International Convention Centre II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The theme of 2024 International Women’s Day is ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.
First, State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivered an opening address by sending a video message to the ceremony.
Then, Chairman of Myanmar Women’s Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win clarified the women empowerment activities, creation of rights for women, prevention of violence against women, holding of Myanmar Women’s Day ceremonies across the nation and reviewing of women empowerment measures.
He also mentioned the implementation of the national-level project on Prevention and Response to Sexual Violence in Conflict during the third term, the 24-hour Helpline “1566”, to help women who face abuse and cooperation work with relevant departments/organizations to conduct education programmes regarding women’s rights and gender equality.
The video message was then sent by the UN Secretary-General, and a video clip of women’s empowerment activities was played.
Next, MWAF Honorary Patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla presented awards to the first prize winner in an article competition marking 2024 International Women’s Day.
Moreover, Daw Khin Thet Htay, Honorary Patron of MWAF the wife of SAC Joint Secretary, and Union Minister Dr Soe Win, presented awards to second, third and fourth prize winners.
Finally, the attendees posed for a documentary group photo and observed the products displayed at the event. —MNA/KTZH
