Myanmar migrant’s funeral held after fatal road accident while shopping before return

The funeral of a Myanmar migrant who died after being hit by a car while shopping for souvenirs a day before going home was held on 8 March.
Ko Thant Zin, 41, a resident of Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, was hit by a car and killed while crossing the road on the night of 1 March.
“He was planning to return the next day. He died on the spot from severe head injuries. After receiving the necessary approval letters from Myanmar, his body was cremated on 8 March,” said an official from the Myanmar Social Welfare Association (Malaysia).
Myanmar nationals in Malaysia attended his funeral at the Puchong crematorium at 11 am.
Ko Thant Zin, a legally working migrant, was a native of Wetthike village, Salin township, Magway Region.
In another similar road accident while crossing the street on 16 June 2023, Ma Pyay Khin Mel (24 years old) from Nattalin village, Paukkhaung, Bago Region, also died on the spot, and her body was cremated in Malaysia on 25 June 2023. — MT/ZN/ED
