SAC member attends 58th Homage Paying Ceremony to the Elderly in Sittway

The 58th Homage Paying Ceremony to the Elderly to mark the 1384 ME Myanmar-Rakhine New Year was held yesterday at U Ottama Hall in Sittway, Rakhine State.
State Administration Council member Daw Aye Nu Sein, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min and wife, Chief Justice of the State High Court Daw Wah Wah Tun, State Ministers and their wives, Senior Military Officers from Sittway station, elderly persons from Sittway Township, departmental officials, members of the ceremony organizing committee; choral Dance troupes and donors attended the ceremony.
First, the 58th Homage Paying Ceremony to the Elderly was opened by playing the Rakhine traditional drum.
Auditor of the ceremony organizing committee U San Nyunt recited the Mingala Awba praise poem, and chairman of the ceremony organizing committee U San Thar Maung explained the ceremony’s purpose.
Then, SAC member Daw Aye Nu Sein delivered the New Year’s wishes, and Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min gave honorary talks.
Next, SAC member Daw Aye Nu Sein and guests led by Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min paid homage to the older people.
Afterwards, the elderly persons were sprinkled with scented water, and officials presented donations in cash and kinds to the elderly.
The dance troupe performed traditional dances after the elders said their heartfelt thanks.
Next, officials presented a cash award to the dance troupe.
Officials paid homage to 70 older people yesterday. They will continue to pay obeisance to the remaining 1,110 elderly persons in various Homes for the Aged, according to the Elderly Homage Paying Organizing Ceremony. — MNA
