The opening ceremony of the 2023 Inter-Region/State Traditional Chinlone Competition was held at Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium A in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, attended by State Administration Council Members Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, Dr Hmu Thang, Dr Ba Shwe, Khun San Lwin, U Shwe Kyein and U Yan Kyaw, Union ministers, deputy ministers, and officials among others.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan spoke on the occasion emphasizing the best efforts for the emergence of outstanding new Chinlone athletes who preserve the traditional heritage.
State Administration Council Members and dignitaries cordially greeted the athletes and watched the solo performance event of traditional Chinlone sports by Ma Lai Wady Zaw, who won the gold medal in the 32nd SEA Games, and the team-wise Chinlone match played by the Yangon Region Team and Ayeyawady Region Team.
The 2023 Inter-Region/State Traditional Chinlone Competition will take place from 9 to 12 October at Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium A and is open to the public free of charge. — MNA/ MKKS
