SAC members support farmers, meet ethnic troupe in Kayin State

State Administration Council Members Mahn Nyein Maung and Khun San Lwin attended the sunflower seed and fertilizer presentation ceremony and seeding demonstration in Hpa-an Township.
It was also attended by Ethnic Affairs Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, governmental and departmental officials and local farmers.
Speaking at the event, SAC Chairman Mahn Nyein Maung highlighted the need to grow the main crops in time to ensure the rice, cooking oil and bean security whereas the population is growing significantly.
He also emphasized promoting the agriculture and livestock sectors for the development of the State economy, food sufficiency and progress of meat and fish sectors as per the instructions of SAC as the Kayin State possesses the potential to produce a variety of crops such as upland and lowland crops.
Then, the SAC member and party provided the farmers with sunflower seeds and fertilizer.
They also watched the demonstration of seed broadcasting and presented cash prizes to the cultural troupe.
They also watched the boat race for the State Chief Minister Trophy.
At noon, they met the state cabinet, township-level officials and members of the Ethnic Literature and Cultural Troupe at Zwekabin Hall of Hpa-an.
At the meeting, SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung urged all to protect the ethnic literature and culture as a national task saying the 2008 Constitution said the Union shall assist in developing language, literature, fine arts and culture of the National races, to promote solidity, mutual amity and respect and mutual assistance among the National races, and to promote socio-economic development including education, health, economy, transport and communication, so forth, of less-developed National races.
Then, SAC Member Khun San Lwin underscored that the ethnic people are responsible for protecting their literature, culture and tradition. They are responsible for safeguarding not only these three aspects but also the country. The ethnic people residing in the region should help and support each other.
The SAC members and party provided K1 million each to five ethnic cultural troupes. — MNA/KTZH
