Sausage market can expand with local related food production

Although pork sausage is a minor export, its market can be further expanded if more sausage-related food items are produced in the domestic market, according to sausage producers.

The market can be bigger if sausage-related food items are domestically produced. With a better packaging system, they can be distributed in the market,” said a sausage businessman.

Local consumption of pork sausage is higher than export, and its price has increased slightly in the past six months.

“At present, there is only the local market. Domestic consumption is higher. Prices have raised during the second half of 2023,” a sausage wholesaler and retailer said.

The varieties in the market include pure meat sausage at K 45,000 a viss and mixed meat-and-fat sausage at K 40,000 a viss, said a sausage trader who distributes to Yangon, Mandalay, Pyay and Myawady.
