The Abhidhamma Day was celebrated at the Shwedagon Pagoda in 1382 ME (2022).

The Thadingyut Lighting Festival (Abhidhamma Day) ceremony will be held in line with COVID-19 health rules at the Shwedagon Pagoda on the full moon of Thadingyut 1384 ME, the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees said.
Members of the Pagoda Board of Trustees, religious associations and staff will donate oil lamps on the auspicious precinct of the pagoda after circling round the pagoda clockwise by holding colourful lanterns and shrines with electric lights at 5 pm on 8 October (the day before the Buddhist Sabbath of Thadingyut).
At 6 am on 9 October (Abhidhamma Day), the ceremony will be convened to offer morning alms to the pagoda, conduct a question-and-answer session on salient points about Abhidhamma Day and share Metta with devotees.
At 9:30 am, the Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustees will offer alms-meals to Sanghas and provide food to devotees. Therefore, the trustees have sent invitations to all Buddhists who have done good deeds during Lent. — TWA/GNLM
