Shwedagon to raise rate for gold leaf donation in September

The Shwedagon Pagoda board of trustees said the rate for gold leaf will be increased starting from 1 September.
The rates to be raised are K10.8 million for a six-tical plate, K5.4 million for a three-tical plate, and K1.8 million for a tical plate. Although the gold price hits K2.8 million per tical in the market Shwedagon Pagoda set K1.8 million per tical, it is reported.
The previous rates since 1 December 2021 are K9.6 million for a six-tical plate, K4.8 million for a three-tical plate, and K1.6 million for a tical plate.
It is planned to buy 10,000 two-inch industrial gold plates and 5,000 traditional handicraft gold plates totalling 15,000 through a tender system for the Shwedagon Pagoda. — TWA/GNLM
