Sinphyukyun bell pepper opens at K10,000 lower than last year’s price

The opening price of new bell peppers from the Sinphyukyun area was K19,000 per viss in Yangon’s market on 19 December, down by K10,000 compared to last year.
Last year, it fetched K29,000 per viss on 24 November 2022 during an entry into Yangon’s market. Yet, the prices were downward, reaching K24,000-K25,000 per viss on 17 December. The price drastically fell to K12,000 per viss on 27 December.
The price rebounded to K15,000-K16,000 per viss in H1 this year. The price hit a high of K19,500-K20,000 per viss in November and December.
Meanwhile, the highest price of the bell pepper processed in cold storage is around K20,000 this year, while bell peppers hit a record price of K31,000 per viss on 17 November 2022. — TWA/KK
