State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received the delegation headed by Lt-Gen Apichet Suesat of the Royal Thai Army at the guest hall of Zeyathiri Villa in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon. The Thai delegation was here to attend the 34th meeting of the Thailand-Myanmar Regional Border Committee hosted by Myanmar.
Also present at the meeting together with State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing were SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, senior Tatmadaw officers and U Chit Swe, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand. The leader of the Thai delegation was accompanied by Colonel Saranyanis Sutthiwajachinadej, a Thai Military Attaché to Myanmar, and senior officers of the Royal Thai Army.
At the meeting, they discussed and exchanged views on enhancing the existing friendship and cooperation between defence forces of the two countries, stability in the border area, increasing cooperation in various sectors including the rule of law and control of narcotics, political developments of Myanmar, security forces’ attempts for the eradication of terrorist incidents, measures for successful implementation of peace and development and anti-terrorism in border areas, cultural exchange and holding sports meets between defence forces of the two countries, exchange of friendship visits and the endeavours of Myanmar Tatmadaw for peace talks with ethnic armed organizations with the intention of achieving perpetual peace throughout the country and measures being taken for the return of CDM staff, students and youths into the legal fold.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the leader of the Thai delegation exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photos. — MNA
