State Administration Council Chairman grants pardon to reduce sentences of U Win Myint, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi

The special court of Zabuthiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area sentenced U Win Myint to two years in prison after being found guilty of violating the Natural Disaster Management Law Section 25 and another two years in prison on the charge of breaking the Penal Code Section 505 (b) yesterday.
Similarly, the court sentenced Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to two years in prison after being found guilty of breaching the Natural Disaster Management Law Section 25 and two years in prison on the charge of violating the Penal Code Section 505 (b) on the same day.
All the citizens must respect the right and fair judgment exercised under the existing law to ensure the rule of law. However, the Chairman of the State Administration Council released a statement of pardon reducing the sentences of U Win Myint and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi by two years out of four years according to sub-section (1) of the Penal Code Section 401 keeping them detained in the current location for remaining two years of imprisonment according to Subsection (1) of the Penal Code Section 541. — MNA
