State-owned sawmills need to produce semi-finished and finished sawn timber with good outturn and operation ratio: MoNREC Union Minister

U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, yesterday met officials at No 10 sawmill of Myanma Timber Enterprise in Thanlyin Township.
After hearing the reports by officials, the Union Minister urged officials of the foreign trade and sawmill department and timber-based industries department to coordinate the tasks to adjust the volume of lots depending on prices, market and demand for earning income.
He instructed them to produce the semi-finished and finished sawn timber with a good outturn and operation ratio.
He stressed the need to produce the finished goods using by-products, monitor the market situation, demand, production of sawn timber and ground stocks on a monthly basis and spend the budget to be auditable.
The Union Minister inspected the work process of No 10 sawmill, No 1 and No 2 furniture factories and viewed round teak, Manjansha and black bamboo plantations planted by Myanma Timber Enterprise in Thanlyin wood-based industrial region. — MNA
