State Peace Talks Team meets KNU/KNLA (PC), DKBA delegations

The first-day meeting between the State Peace Talks Team and the peace delegation from KNU/KNLA (PC) and DKBA is in progress.

The meeting between the State Peace Talks Team and delegations of the Karen National Liberation Army (Peace Council) KNU/KNLA (PC) and the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army-DKBA was held at the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Centre’s meeting hall in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

SAC Member Union Minister at the Union Government Office Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee Leader of the State Peace Talks Team Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and members: SAC Member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Lt-Gen Min Naung, the NSPNC secretary and Chief of Staff Saw Steel of the DKBA, Adjutant-General Saw Sein Win, KNU/KNLA (PC) Vice-Chair Dr Naw Kapaw Htoo and General Secretary Saw Kyaw Nyunt attended the meeting.
At the meeting, SPTT Leader Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and DKBA Chief of Staff Saw Steel, on behalf of EAOs present at the meeting, made opening remarks. Then, NSPNC member Lt-Gen Win Bo Shein clarified the list of Union legislation – Table 1 and the list of regional or state legislation – Table 2 in the 2008 Constitution sector-wise and interpreted the phased implementations and post-2020 levellized procedures – Table 2.
Afterwards, attendees exchanged their opinions and adjourned the first-day meeting. The second day will continue on 16 September, it is learnt. — MNA
