The Myanmar MoU workers in Thailand can carry out U-Turn processes in Kawthoung and Myawady through the one-stop service system. The Myanmar Embassy in Thailand released the necessary information on 7 September.
It was announced on 26 August that Myanmar workers in Thailand under the MoU system, who hold PJ passports that are valid for two years or more, have been informed that they will be provided with a one-stop service system in Myawady and Kawthoung to allow them to re-enter Thailand in a short period using the MoU/U-Turn system.
To perform the U-Turn process within a day, the Ministries of Labour of the two countries have already instructed the one-stop service team to serve around 700 Myanmar workers in Myawady and about 300 Myanmar workers in Kawthoung on 11 September.
Documentation activities for the U-Turn procedure between the employer, regional labour offices of Thailand, the Department of Employment in Thailand, and the Myanmar Labour Attache Office must be done by the employer or employment agencies.
After the completion of the activities, the U-Turn process can be completed by the MoU workers in three or four days at two border cities at a low cost.
In addition, MoU workers sent from blacklisted companies can register at another company for the U-Turn process with the consent of the employer and the MoU worker. — TWA/CT
