Thway Thit Win Hlaing defeats Tun Tun Min by decision

Challenger Thway Thit Win Hlaing beat former Myanmar Lethwei Champion Tun Tun Min by decision in the main bout of the Great Lethwei event held in Yangon yesterday. Thway Thit Win Hlaing won by a referee’s decision as there was no clear result of the three-minute, five-round bout. In the first round, Thway Thit Win Hlaing managed his tempo by punching Tun Tun Min with left kicks and left fists.
In the second round, Tun Tun Min’s power play was strong, and Thway Thit Win Hlaing lost his balance a bit, as Tun Tun Min’s punches were effective.
In the third round, Thway Thit Win Hlaing played very cautiously, while Tun Tun Min tried to win the match with a right kick along with a pair of fists.
In the fourth round, Tun Tun Min’s stamina dropped a bit. This was because he used power punches for three full rounds. Due to Thway Thit Win Hlaing’s punches, Tun Tun Min fell to the floor twice and the referee had to count twice. In the fifth round, Tun Tun Min didn’t go down and attacked again. In turn, Thway Thit Win Hlaing also pressed towards the strike in the last round to suppress the attacks, and used more punches than kicks. However, both sides were unable to overpower each other, and it was decided by the point system, and Thway Thit Win Hlaing won and became the new Myanma Lethwei champion.

Thway Thit Win Hlaing, who beat Tun Tun Min, will be able to challenge the reigning World Lethwei Champion.—KZL
