The Trade Department under the Ministry of Commerce notified on 7 January that exporters can be shifted to other Myanmar-Thailand border posts to facilitate trade amid the transport disruption at the Myawady trade zone after receiving export licences for the goods.
If they want to change the mode of transport to maritime transport, the authority will give the green light to it as well.
Also, this policy applies to the importers engaged in Myanmar-Thailand border trade for permitted goods. For seaborne import, capital goods, intermediate goods and industrial raw materials that need to be transported with container shipping will be allowed after screening each case.
On 8 November 2023, similar events occurred at the Muse and Chinshwehaw borders, and goods were relocated to other posts. — NN/EM
