Myanmar conducted trade worth US$977.247 million with Thailand through the Myawady border between 1 April and 1 December 2023, with imports ($710.155 million) surpassing exports ($267 million), according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The figures dropped from $1.49 billion recorded in the year’s corresponding period.
Myawady border witnessed trade worth $4.461 million, comprising exports worth $0.383 million and imports worth $4.078 million in the first four days of December 2023.
Export items are chilli pepper, cabbage, onion, dried ginger, corn starch, turmeric, tamarind, fishing net, dried Palmyra sprout, fisheries such as crab, shrimp, minced fish, anchovy, hilsa and other fish, minerals, and garment products based on the CMP basis. Raw materials used in the food industry are in high demand in Thailand’s market.
